Thanks Seth for writing about this. For me, you are framing the discourse in marketing terms using marketing niche labels to describe people across the years. The issue is that we 'all' have been living in what is a 'pseudoculture'. And so as a 'boomer' (solely to align to your text), I fell for the illusion of thinking it was a culture too. So many people my generation are looking at themselves wondering what all that about, the hype we were told never got us anywhere. For some yeas materially but no meaning.
And so this 'pseudoculture' was bound to run out of steam because it didn't have the dynamics of a true culture, where indigenous peoples have maintained their culture in some cases for 50,000 years. I've written about or 'pseudoculture' here (https://shorturl.at/H47UE) and have continued with other substacks to begin to chart a way towards a true culture.
The link didn't work, but I just read- Beyond Pseudoculture: Creating a Web of Meaning in a Fractured World and couldn't be more happy to have found your work, it deeply resonates and I look forward to learning from you and building true culture alongside you!
Hi Seth, thank you for your kind words. Apologies about the link. I’ll be sharing the foundation stones of a true culture in the next articles. Looking forward to the journey and support.
